The "F" series of fire engines began production in 1946.The F12 was constructed of a wooden frame skinned with aluminium and was produced in both rear and side pump versions.Dennis F12 registered PUS 258 was delivered new to Glasgow Fire Service . Glasgow operated an 'electric fleet' however they were acknowledged for encompassing 'new innovations' such as the 'front mounted pump' Leyland Firemaster as well as being the first UK service to employ a rescue cage at the head of a 100ft turntable ladder.
