Arriva took over the Cross Country franchise late in 2007 with a number of the former Virgin Voyager trains being transferred to Arriva. The livery to be applied has not yet appeared, however working with Arriva Trains Dapol expect to have the new livery available in N gauge during the 3rd quarter of 2008.

The extra coach allows longer Voyager train formations to be modeled when used with the ND087 4-car train as four car train.

Among the first successful diesel trains the GWR's fleet of railcars operated on branch and main line routes. The BR multiple-unit trains of the 1950's followed the same basic power and drive layout developed on these cars.

An excellent model of the GWR 1930s design streamlined diesel railcar painted in the Great Westerns' classic chocolate and cream livery with the 'Shirtbutton' crest..

These were the first successful mainline diesel traction units, with an angular body design allowing railway buffing gear to be accomodated. This allowed the railcars to haul a trailer or a couple of goods wagons, truly replacing the steam locomotive on many branchline services.

2-car BR Metropolitan-Cammell class 101 Diesel Multiple Unit in BR green livery. Introduced in the 1950's these DMU's replaced steam passenger trains on branch lines and local services across the country. The ability to couple these trains together to form longer trains when needed with just one driver and guard made these units very flexible in service. The last units of this type were still in passenger service in 2000 and several sets have been preserved.

A new N gauge DMU is particularly welcome and the BR Derby design class 108 is certainly a good choice as these units worked in most areas of Britain.

This 2-car unit is painted in the popular green speed whiskers livery of the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Please note that the Blue and Blue & Grey units have been labelled incorrectly so are not as per catalogue.

This model carries the crimson and cream livery adopted for use on these trains, a scheme reminicscent of the original BR passenger coach livery. A dummy unit, product ND083B will also be available.

Introduced during the 1990's to replace locomotives and Mk1 coaches with modern air-conditioned trains on medium and long distance cross-country services where traffic flows do not require HST trains. Central trains operate around Birmingham, reaching Cardiff, Milton Keynes and other Midlands cities.

2-car BR class 158 'Super Sprinter' diesel multiple unit train in Wessex Trains Alphalinel livery.
Introduced during the 1990's to replace locomotives and Mk1 coaches with modern air-conditioned trains on medium and long distance cross-country services where traffic flows do not require HST trains. Wessex Trains operate in the South West of England. Alphaline was the brand name for the principal routes operated including Cardiff-Portsmouth and Gloucester-Penzance.

Introduced during the 1990's to replace locomotives and Mk2 coaches with modern air-conditioned trains on Southern region, particularly Exeter-Waterloo services.

Several famous railway company names have been revived following the privatisation of the British railway network, Southern is one of the most recent to return. Operating on the former (pre-1948) Southern Railway network, todays Southern provides services between London and the South Coast, East and West Sussex, Surrey, Kent and Hampshire.

This model of the modern class 171 2-car diesel multiple unit train provides services over the non-electrified sections of the network. The Graham Farish model accurately reproduces the stylish livery in green and white, complete with clearly printed lettering, door markings and traditional style logos.

The new Cross Country franchise has combined parts of several older franchise operations under one operator. Class 170 units from Central Trains are now running on many of the Cross Country stopping services, while Voyager trains provide the backbone long distance expresses.

This stylish new livery is sure to be welcome on your layout, providing your passengers with fast local services linked into long distance trains.

In 2007 the cross country franchise passed to a new operator and the former Virgin Voyager trains are being repainted into the new Cross Country livery scheme.

A derivative design from the Virgin Voyager train the Meridian units have entered service with several operators.

This train carries the livery of East Midlands trains.

220 001 Maiden Voyager was the first of the new generation of trains introduced by Virgin Trains on the cross country service. These highly successful and stylish trains have been instrumental in the increased passenger figures recorded.

Following the design of the Voyager train for Virgin Trains several similar follow on designs have been produced. This unit carries the livery of the Meridian train, built fod Midland Mainline services north from London St.Pancras.

New train operator Hull Trains provides improved services and customer choice on the East Coast route, competing with National Express on the route from London Kings Cross.

The Voyager train design was chosen by the company, this unit 222 101 Pionerr carries the companys' livery.

Dapol have announced that they will be producing the class 153 single car diesel unit train in N gauge, with the production of CAD drawings already at an advanced stage.
A useful diesel unit train introduced in the early 1990s the 153 unit can run alone on lightly used branchlines, or be combined with many of the Sprinter generation units to boost train capacity quickly and easily on busy commuter routes. Certainly a welcome addition to the range for operators of small N gauge layouts!

This Dapol model features a low friction under window drive mechanism, as developed for the 156 Sprinter unit, incorporating the Dapol ‘super creep’ motor and a 40:1 gear ratio for superb smooth running at low speeds. A DCC 6 pin socket will be fitted along with directional lighting and see through windows.

This model will carry the Arriva Trains aqua blue livery. Arriva operate several franchises, including many scenic routes in Wales where the 153 provides passenger train services linking remote communities.

New Product Announcement from Dapol. Release information and pricing to be advised

To complement their new Mk.3 coaches Dapol have announced that they have commenced CAD design work on the class 43 HST power cars. No timescale has been advised and these did not appear in the initial 2009 catalogue, so 2010/11 production is expected.

Information so far indicates that several detail variations will be allowed for in the design of the tooling and many livery versions are planned including as-built 'InterCity 125', all versions of the InterCity 'red stripe' livery, Virgin Trains and Cross Country

These models will incorporate the Dapol Platinum chassis, with directional lighting and 6-pin DCC sockets for motor and lighting control. Provision for the installation of a sound system in the 'dummy' end power car is being considered at the design stage.
Dapol will be fitting these power cars with their close-coupling units, leaving little or no gap between the corridor connections when coupled with their new Mk.3 coaches.

New Product Announcement from Dapol

Dapol have announced that they will be producing the Virgin Trains Pendolino train in N!
No timescale has been advised yet, but we understand that the tooling is being produced in late 2009.

The train will be released as a 4-car set in a presentation book set format, as used for the Voyager trains. The power unit will incorporate the Dapol low friction drive mechanism with 6-pin DCC sockets (two decoders will be needed, with one to operate lighting) and all cars will be close coupled. A sprung pantograph and directional lighting will be fitted and a working tilt system is promised, if the mechanisms can be made robustly enough in N!
Extra coaches are promised to allow your Pendolino train to be extended.
